United Nations Partnership for Action on the Green Economy

In March 2017 (27-28th March) the United Nations Partnership for Action on the Green Economy (PAGE) organised a Ministerial Conference in Berlin in collaboration with the German Ministry of the Environment. The conference leveraged Germany's presidency of G20 in the first half of 2017.

UNIDO and UNEP as core members of PAGE gave keynote speeches. GIZ was strongly represented, including Detlef Schreiber and the PREMA product manager, Michael Funcke-Bartz.

The call to action was compelling from all parties, with Professor Jeffrey Sachs suggesting that without a concerted effort to address global warming for example and keep the increase in temperature to less than 2°, there is a strong risk that most of the planet's coastal and low-lying cities (e.g. New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, London, Bankok, Jakarta) will be under 6 metres of water. The only way for our planet to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals is to collaborate and partner, looking beyond individual governements' and organisations objectives and preferences.
