Chemical Management in Colombia

Since 2010 the Facultad Nacional de Salud Pública at the Universidad de Antioquia, Medellin, Colombia has been training entrepreneurs and consultants on Chemical Management, through the various modules of the program. This has been made possible through the facilitators of PREMA: Adriana Gonzales and Maria Luisa Montoya under tutoring of Alberto Camacho from the project on conventions on chemical safety of the Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Bonn.

To date two workshops on Module I “Inventory and Risa Assessment” took place. Module II will take place in Medellin from July 11 – 16, 2011 on “Control Methods and Minimization of Risk” which enhances the handling of these substances in the industrial sector.

It is important to emphasize that a public university has take the task of training Chemical Management, which will lead to a more viable future implementation of the Environmental Health Policy in Colombia.
